A driver with Budweiser beer in his Volkswagen was arrested after a crash on U.S. 301.
Jacob Seth Hunter, 25, of Yalaha, was involved in single-vehicle crash at about 7:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. 301 at SE 24th Trail, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Sumter County Fire Rescue also responded to the scene and checked out Hunter who did not appear to be injured. However, his speech was slurred and it appeared he had been drinking.
There was an open Budweiser beer bottle on the driver’s side floorboard and there were several unopened cans of Budweiser elsewhere in the VW.
Hunter struggled through field sobriety exercises. He refused to provide a breath sample.
He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
