A speeding driver blamed his cousin for marijuana found in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Lady Lake.

Javares Marquis Hill, 21, who lives at The Cove Apartments on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, was driving at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of County Road 25 and Oak Street when he was caught on radar traveling at 59 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A check with dispatch revealed that a seize tag order had been issued for the vehicle driven by Hill, who was driving on a suspended license.

A search of the vehicle turned up a bag of marijuana tucked between the driver’s seat and center console. Hill claimed the marijuana belonged to his “cousin.”

He was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
