Operation Shoebox will be hosting a huge collectibles sale this month at Lake Miona Recreation Center.
The nonprofit organization supports members of the armed forces around the world by sending between 350-400 care packages to them each week. Its annual shipping expense is almost $1 million.
To help with these expenses, the organization is having a collectibles sale as a fundraiser from 1 to 6 p.m. July 17 at the recreation center. The entire collection was donated by a 101st Airborne veteran and his wife. All proceeds will go directly towards covering shipping costs and providing essential supplies for care packages.
“By participating in this event, readers will be supporting our mission of supporting our troops and honoring the sacrifices made by members of our Armed Forces every day,” said Lori DiCarlo, a volunteer with Operation Shoebox.
