A church in The Villages announced that it will join hundreds of other churches around the world and host a prom night event created and sponsored by Tim Tebow to honor those with special needs.

Night to Shine, which is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, will be hosted by the New Covenant United Methodist Church in 2024.

Located at 3470 Woodridge Drive, New Covenant United Methodist Church is the first in The Villages to participate in the event, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Night to Shine was launched in 2014 to gather churches around the country willing to provide a prom night experience centered on “God’s love for people with special needs,” reads a statement from the church.

“Through hundreds of churches and thousands of volunteers, Night to Shine is now a worldwide movement to celebrate God’s love by honoring people with special needs and the value of life,” reads the statement.

Every guest at Night to Shine will have complimentary access to the event. Upon arrival, guests walk a red carpet complete with friends, family, and paparazzi.

Once inside, guests are given the royal treatment, with stations for hair, makeup, and shoe-shining. All guests are given corsages and boutonnieres, and will be able to participate in a karaoke room, a catered dinner, and dancing.

Caregivers and parents will have access to a Respite Room and prom favors will be given to each guest.

The night is capped off with each guest being crowned a king or queen of the prom.

Night to Shine will take place on February 9, 2024, at hundreds of locations around the world.

New Covenant says it is looking to recruit a large number of volunteers for the event. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the church by phone at 352-750-4529 or visit the Night to Shine webpage through NCUMC.
