A homeless man was arrested for trespassing after he was found in a sleeping bag on the property of the TA Travel Center in Wildwood.
A deputy responded to the TA Travel Center on State Road 44 regarding 59-year-old Clinton Joseph Krout trespassing on the property after a warning around 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputy found Krout asleep in a sleeping bag in the northeast corner of the property. He woke up Krout, after which he confirmed his identity using his name and date of birth. This information was then given to dispatch who advised that he was previously trespassed from the truck stop on Jan. 25, the report said.
Dispatch emailed the deputy a copy of the trespass warning, which was still active. The warning was requested by the property owner or another authorized person at the truck stop. At the bottom of the warning, Krout signed his name, implying that he understood that he was being trespassed from the property, the report said.
Additionally, the deputy found the notes for the original call for service. In them, the manager of the truck stop requested Krout be trespassed from the property. He was camping out in the back of the property before being told to pack his belongings and leave immediately. He was told that if he came back, he would be arrested for trespassing, the report said.
Krout was subsequently arrested and charged with trespassing (not structure or conveyance). The Pennsylvania native was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $500.
