High winds, a steep temperature drop and stinging rain failed to stop a Trump golf cart rally from its appointed route in The Villages.

The event, organized by The Villages MAGA Club, was intended to salute President Trump in honor of President’s Day weekend. The rally scheduled for Sunday afternoon still had golf carts lining up at Lake Sumter Landing for the trip to Brownwood.

About 80 golf carts lined up as big dark clouds approached the rally point at Creekside Medical.

The rally departed about 30 minutes ahead of schedule, in an attempt to beat the storm. However, the golf carts had gotten about as far at RJ Gator’s when the wind intensified and began blowing decorations off the golf carts.
