
Howard Leon Renner, 87, of Bushnell, FL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2025.
He was born in Cleveland, Tennessee on May 9, 1937 to Paul and Edna Renner. After serving in the Army reserve, he got his degree from University of Florida in 1963. After teaching in several schools, he moved to Sumter County in 1974 to teach agriculture at South Sumter High School where he would teach in the county for the next 37 years. Howard enjoyed working with his cattle, teaching, playing softball, coaching baseball and softball, cheering on his Gators and Red Sox, singing bass in gospel groups, and most of all spending time with his family including his church family.
Howard has served faithfully in several churches including the last 47 years at New Testament Baptist Church including Sunday School Superintendent for around 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Renner of Bushnell, Florida; daughter: Sheri Smith (Rob) of Lutz, Florida; son: Andrew Renner (Cristinia) of Dade City, Florida; grandchildren: Bobby (Tori), Catherine (Aaron), Amanda, Luke, Cole, and Grace; great grandchildren: Kade, Kolter, Charlotte, Cambree, Slade, and Dakota; sisters: Juanita Munroe of Ruskin, Florida and Velma Trotter (Don) of Glendale, Arizona; brothers: Ken Renner (Joan) of Sorrento, Florida and Arville Renner of Palm Coast, Florida.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edna Renner, and his sister, June Renner Spence.
A visitation will be held at New Testament Baptist Church in Floral City, Florida on February 21, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the service starting at 11 a.m. Interment at Lake Lindsey Cemetery.
