Two men were arrested after a violent road rage incident which began in a heavy traffic area in The Villages.

Emanuel Rolon, 41, of Ocala was driving a red pickup truck shortly before noon Thursday on State Road 44 near Morse Boulevard, when he got in front of another vehicle and forced it to slow down and pull over, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The other driver said he saw Rolon and his passenger, 26-year-old Carlos Roman of Summerfield, get out of the truck and approach his vehicle. The pair opened the door of the man’s car and punched him in the face “multiple times.” He was also punched in the stomach. He was able to lay back on the seat and began kicking Rolon and Roman with his feet. They retreated, but Roman kicked the man’s vehicle as they walked away. His kick left a dent, with damage estimated at $500.

Roman is facing a felony charge of burglary with assault or battery and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief with property damage. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $11,000 bond.

Rolon, who was previously convicted of burglary in 2005, was also arrested on a felony charge of burglary with assault or battery. He was booked at the jail and released after posting $15,000 bond.

The intersection where the road rage incident was ignited has been under recent scrutiny due to heavy traffic.
