An aspiring hair dresser was arrested after an alleged mop attack at an apartment complex.

Patricia Ann Bevelle, 44, of the Lake Sumter Apartments on County Road 466, had attended hairdressing school on Thursday and got upset when she arrived at home, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The Detroit, Mich. native said that a man “was trying to bully her, control her and tell her what to do.” She said she tried to leave the apartment, but the man blocked her exit. Bevelle grabbed a mop and struck him in the head. She then hit a wall with the mop, causing it to break. She grabbed a case of Diet Coke and threw it in the man’s direction. Finally, she “grabbed a small crockpot-style glass bowl and attempted to throw it” at the man. Another woman intervened and tried to take the glass bowl from Bevelle, who used her fingernails to scratch the other woman on the side of her face.

Bevelle was arrested on two counts of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
