A Wildwood woman was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped in a vehicle with a paper permit plate from Georgia.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, later identified as 24-year-old Alona Diamond Fullwood, at County Road 466A and East County Road 462, Wildwood, at 9:54 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle did not have a tag, instead displaying a piece of paper that read “Temporary Operating Permit Plate” with “TEST DRIVE” in bold letters.

Another deputy responded to the traffic stop, and the investigation was turned over to him. He spoke with Fullwood who was unable to provide a valid driver’s license because she never had one issued. However, she did give a Georgia ID card number, the report said.

Fullwood’s personal information was used to confirm she did not have a driver’s license. The vehicle had a Georgia license plate assigned which also expired on Nov. 12, 2024, less than six months ago, the report said.

After being read her rights, Fullwood stated she did not want to speak with law enforcement. A subsequent criminal history check revealed two previous driving offenses, the report said.

Fullwood was arrested on charge of operate motor vehicle without valid license and issued a written warning for no tag attached/displayed and expired registration. The Georgia native was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $150 bond.
