A mother and her teen daughter were arrested after a fight with the teen’s former friend at Walmart.
Ashley Mae Oglesby, 35, of Lake Panasoffkee, was jailed this past week in connection with the Wednesday afternoon altercation at Walmart in Bushnell.

The teen girl who was attacked, posted on social media that she was headed to Walmart. When Oglesby and her 16-year-old daughter learned she was going to Walmart they went there, too, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. There has been some apparent animosity between the former teen friends because the former friend’s boyfriend had been “talking” to Oglesby’s teen daughter.
Once they were all at Walmart, an altercation broke out when Oglesby’s teen daughter ran aggressively at her former friend, the report said. The friend threw a drink at Oglesby’s teen daughter, who retaliated by punching her in the face and knocking her to the ground.
Both Oglesby and her teen daughter “were on top” of the other girl “striking her,” the report said. When deputies arrived at Walmart, the other girl “had blood around her face” and described the attack.
Oglesby said she did not strike the other girl and claimed she attempted to break up the fight.
However, deputies later found a video that Oglesby’s daughter posted to her Instagram account. The video clearly showed Oglesby’s active participation in the altercation.
Oglesby is facing a charge of child abuse as well as a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for “encouraging” her daughter in the brawl. Oglesby was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $5,000 bond. Her teen daughter was also arrested.
