I use Artificial Intelligence in a browser frequently to get detailed technical information about cars, electronics, computers, etc. The responses are fast and focused in a way I’ve not seen previously. For such purposes, it has been a welcome innovation.
Last fall, I inquired of AI how NCAA Division I (or FBS) is not professional football. The response was lengthy but basically said “No, it is not professional football because of the lack of a signed employment contract. “
Division I is certainly professional football in spirit, if not otherwise. The statement that there is no signed contract I have to question. Aside from that debate, it raised the question as to who is behind the answers given by AI. Does anyone know? I’ve detected in this as well as other responses what I would call an “establishment bias” suggesting that monied interests control AI, supporting the status quo.
However, when the question was posed “Why did the Apostle Paul give such exhaustive detail about his missionary journeys in building the early church?” AI responded that ” it was to give us a model for church building, which has not been followed in the subsequent millennia.” Hardly an establishment response.
So I repeat the question – who controls AI?
