
CMSgt (Ret) William Thomas Hall, Jr, age 92, of The Villages, FL passed away on April 8, 2025. He was born in Miami, FL on October 20, 1932, to the late William Thomas Hall, Sr and Mabel G Gibson. He graduated from Booker T Washington High School in Miami, FL. He earned his B. S. Degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL and a master’s degree from Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA.
He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1950 and served thirty-one years. He rose quickly thru the ranks. He was the Senior Enlisted Advisor, under Col Daniel Chappie James, for Headquarters 20th Northern Air Division Defense Command (NORAD) from July 1978 thru June 1981. He retired after this last assignment.
Upon retirement from the Air Force, he returned to his native home in Florida and embarked on an eighteen-year college administration career. He served five years as assistant to the president at Broward State College (formerly Broward Community) and thirteen years as Director of Personnel at Northwest Florida State College (formerly Okaloosa-Walton Community College). He served on the Board of The Florida Humanities Council and several other State Boards of Education. He also served on the Board of Love, Inc, in The Villages. He was a member of several organizations: Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, The African American Club of The Villages, The Sophisticated Gents of Florida, Life member of the NAACP and a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church, The Villages. He enjoyed many activities, and he was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Glenda M Hill and Hester E. Hall. He is survived by his wife, Inez W. Hall, daughter, Glenda Hall Peterman (Donell), a son, Gregory T. Hall (Shaun), Stepdaughters, Joyce Padgett (Sonny) and Marilla Richardson. Granddaughters, Morgan C Belcher and Ariel-Jade Hall. Grandson William Thomas Hall III (Shimika). Great-grandchildren, Kamya N Belcher, Daynian T Hall, and Xavier Hall. A niece, Colette F. Hill (Anthony), a host of relatives in The Bahama Islands and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at New Covenant United Methodist church, The Villages, FL at 11:00 o’clock a.m. on April 22, 2025. A military burial will follow at 1:30 p.m., Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Memorials may be made to New Covenant United Church Choir in his name.
