Douglas L. Asmus Sr. 81, of The Villages, Florida passed away on April 14, 2025. He was born on April 9, 1944 in Miami, Florida to the late Walter and Lillian (Williams) Asmus.
He graduated from North Miami High School in 1962. Doug is survived by his daughter, Laurie Gargis (Brian) of Lexington, SC and son Douglas Asmus Jr. (Audra) of Apopka, FL. His grandchildren, Brandon Asmus, Brooke Asmus, Blake Gargis, Jacob Gargis, Ethan Asmus & Evan Asmus.
He is preceded in death by father, Walter W. Asmus Sr., mother, Lillian Williams Asmus, brothers Walter W. Asmus, Jr. and Barry Kent Asmus.
He joined the US Army Reserve in 1965 for 6 years and was discharged with the rank of E-5 Buck Sergeant. He rejoined the US Army Reserve in 1975 and served an additional 16 years and was honorably discharged in 1991 with the rank of E-8 Master Sergeant. He graduated with an AA degree from Toccoa Falls College, Toccoa Falls, GA. He worked several years in the banking industry. Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
