
Antonio Junior Fernandes of The Villages, Florida passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025.
Tony was born on April 26, 1933, in Prichard, West Virginia to Antonio Fernandes and Caroline Matovich Fernandes. He was a graduate of Big Creek High School in War, West Virginia and went on to serve in the Air Force from 1951 to 1953. Upon discharge after the Korean War, he attended the University of West Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and later a Master’s degree in Mathematics. This is where he also met and married his beautiful bride Ramona Kay Turner in December 1958.
Tony taught for 2 years in a West Virginia high school and then went on to teach at the University of California in California, Pennsylvania for 38 years until his retirement. His interest included West Virginia football and basketball, bowling, shooting pool with his buddies and travel.
He is survived by his wife Ramona Kay Fernandes, his sister Violet Harter (Melvin), brother Rudy Fernandes, brother Joe Fernandes (Irma), niece Melissa Bowden (John), great nieces Rachel and Sarah Bowden.
