
Larry R. English, 92, of The Villages, Fla., passed away on April 11, 2025. He was born on March 18, 1933, to Newton Jacob English and Essie Mae (Hollifield) English. He was raised in Rabun County, Ga., and moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1959.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Laurel Selene (Rogers). He is survived by daughters Clara Jo Prezas (Joe), Rhonda Carole Johannesson and Emily Susan Day (Rick), along with 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Rabun County High School in Clayton, Ga., Larry joined the Marine Corps in 1952 and was a veteran of the Korean war. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Larry worked for national brewing companies in Tampa, Fla., until his retirement.
During retirement, Larry and Selene traveled in their motorhome.
Larry had a natural gift for storytelling, which led him to write and publish several novels and short stories about his experiences growing up and living in the north Georgia mountains.
