William R. Heasley Jr., of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born in Winchester, Virginia, on April 12, 1942, Bill was the son of the late William “Jack” Heasley, Sr. and Dorothy (Rector) Heasley of Purcellville, Virginia. He was a proud graduate of Loudoun County High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation, Bill honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, with a tour of duty in Guam.
Bill was a devoted sports fan, particularly of the Washington Commanders and the Washington Nationals—formerly the Senators. He was also a passionate history enthusiast, with a deep interest in genealogy and Civil War, specifically Mosby’s Rangers.
After dedicating 26 years to the United States Postal Service, Bill fulfilled his dream of living his retirement years in Florida, where he enjoyed the warm climate and a slower pace of life.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Erica Miller (Buck); his son, Shawn Skaggs (Susy); his beloved grandchildren, Cori Miller, Bubby Miller, and Gail Skaggs; and his sister, Sandra Pierce. He is also remembered by his nephews, Scott Pierce and Sean Pierce, along with a great-niece and great-nephews. Bill’s loyal dog, Charlie Brown, was always by his side.
Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and deep love for his family, history, and country.
