Hollis Wesley Cress Jr., 83, passed away in The Villages, Florida on May 21, 2025. He was born in Galion, Ohio on August 7, 1941 to Hollis and Dorothy Cress.
Sonny was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and his family was the most important people in his life. Sonny was a Preacher for 15 years at Bushnell Church of Christ. He proudly worked for the school system for 42 years, including opening Lake Panasoffkee School where he was the first Plant manager to work there.
Sonny coached little league baseball, and coached for the YMCA where he received Service to Youth Award, Trade, and Industrial certificates through the state of Ohio, and Mechanical Engineering. He played sports, basketball, baseball, and volleyball in the semi-pro league.
He is survived by his wife: Norma L. Cress of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; daughter: Yolanda M. Brooks of Ocala, FL; sons: Russell C. Casino of Havertown, PA and Harold W. Cress (Patty) of Inverness, FL; sister: Juanita Rose Kirkpatrick of Marion, OH; grandchildren: Lulu, Hunter, Lauren, AJ, Maddox, and Phoenix; great-grandchildren: Easton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Dorothy Cress, his daughter, Cassandra “Cassie” Clement and his sister, Joyce Arlene Gordon.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Bushnell Church of Christ from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the service Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Bushnell Church of Christ at 10 a.m. with Preacher Glenn Frazier officiating.
