An Ocklawaha woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing a driver and puncturing her tire on the roadway near Dollar General.
A deputy responded to Southeast 180th Avenue Rd., Ocklawaha, to meet with the victim of a stabbing at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The incident, later found to involve 54-year-old Katherine Jones, happened near Dollar General, located at 9440 SE Hwy. 464C.

Upon arrival, the deputy observed a silver Hyundai Sonata with a flat front tire pull into the residence. The female victim stepped out of the driver’s seat holding up her right hand, which was bleeding from a large laceration to her right pointer finger. She advised that Jones had just stabbed her, the report said.
Meanwhile, another deputy made contact with Jones in the Dollar General parking lot. He detained her and recovered a multicolor folding knife off her person, the report said.
After being evaluated by EMS, the victim declined transport. Her hand was bandaged once the deputy took photos of her injuries, which consisted of the laceration to her pointer finger on her right hand, a small cut to the back of her ring finger and a small puncture wound on her left quad, the report said.
The victim advised that she was driving westbound on Southeast 95th Street Rd., just east of Dollar General, when she passed Jones who was walking on the south side of the street. Jones began to yell at her, so she rolled down her window and told her to “leave her family alone.” Jones responded by charging at the open window as she pulled a blue and silver knife from her left shoulder area, the report said.
Jones unfolded the knife and started to thrust it through the threshold of the car window. The victim put her right hand out to block the initial thrusts, which was when she believed her point finger was cut. When the victim pulled away, Jones moved the knife to her right hand and stabbed at her in a downward motion, the report said.
The victim believed this was when the top of her left quad was punctured. She started rolling up her window, and Jones stabbed the front driver’s side tire, causing it to go flat. The victim separated herself from Jones by making a U-turn and driving away. She then called 911 and drove home, the report said.
With the victim’s help, a deputy was able to establish 16647 SE 95th Street Rd., Ocklawaha, as the area for where the stabbing happened on the roadside. Another deputy joined the scene where Jones was detained, and they read her rights. She agreed to speak about the case and was interviewed, the report said.
Jones stated she was walking westbound to Dollar General when she saw the victim pass her in a vehicle. She began to cross to the south side of the street as the victim began to pass her again. The victim then rolled down her window and yelled something at her, the report said.
Jones approached the vehicle because she could not hear what the victim was saying. When she came within arm’s reach of the door, she heard the victim say she “was going to kill her whole family.” She did not see any weapon, and she did not make any threatening motions toward her, the report said.
The victim tried to open her door, so Jones immediately pushed it shut and leaned against it to prevent her from getting out. The victim picked up her cell phone and tried to record the interaction. Jones reached into her vehicle and tried to take it from her, claiming she wanted to call 911, the report said.
The victim then grabbed Jones’ left wrist. Jones demonstrated how she took out her knife, reached inside the vehicle and wildly slashed at the victim. She proceeded to contort her body and stab the victim’s front tire twice. She stated she did this to get the victim to stop, though the vehicle was not in motion at the time, the report said.
The victim let her arm go before driving away. Jones saw her make a U-turn and leave the area, the report said.
Jones claimed she was acting in self-defense when she stabbed the victim and believed she was going to run her over. But she also stated she was only fearful she was going to be run over when she was at the driver’s door of the vehicle. She admitted the victim never actually tried to run her over, the report said.
When asked about how she was slashing at the vehicle, Jones stated she blacked out and could not remember. She eventually advised that she did make a straight outward thrust as she was holding the knife forward. She then maneuvered the knife and made a downward stabbing motion toward the victim’s leg, the report said.
The knife recovered from Jones was shiny and multicolored. At certain angles, it gave off a silver and blue hue. The tire damaged by the stabbing cost $100 to replace, the report said.
Jones was ultimately arrested on charges of burglary with assault or battery and criminal mischief (under $200). The North Carolina native was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.
