A Villager has been tracked down in the theft of merchandise from a local golf cart store.
Lucretia Merry Hewson, 50, who lives at 1728 Myrtle Beach Drive on the Historic Side of The Villages, had been caught on surveillance in May stealing merchandise from Villages Discount Golf Cars on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Hewson is suspected of stealing Garmin products and a JBL speaker from the store.
The Baltimore native was considered a suspect in the case when she was arrested Saturday when she was spotted at the Good Time arcade, also on U.S. Hwy. 441.
She was arrested on two counts of theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
