David Paul Hedrick, 74, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in The Villages, Florida. Born on September 26, 1950 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Dave was the beloved son of Robert Hedrick and Dorothea (Vannoy) Hedrick.

Dave proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He later earned his degree from the University of Maryland and enjoyed a long and dedicated career in public service and hospitality, working for the Ocean City Police Department, the Sheraton Washington Hotel, and retiring in 2010 from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

On September 22, 1979, Dave married the love of his life, Patricia (Kane) Hedrick, and together they shared 45 years of marriage. Dave has four children: Ryan (Tiffiny), Allison (Stephen), Nick (Candice), and Emily (Odin). Dave also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Loretta (8) and Jalen (11).

A devoted family man and friend, Dave made it a priority to stay connected with his loved ones through regular phone calls. He enjoyed golf, baseball, pickleball, water volleyball, and bowling, and gave back through volunteer work with the American Legion, Wildwood Soup Kitchen, Silver Spring – Takoma Thunderbolts Baseball, and the Montgomery Blair High School Boosters.

Dave was a proud member of Lady Lake United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 347. He is also survived by his siblings Bob (Kit), Jim (Vicki), and Cindy (Mac), and was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dorothea, and stepmother Wilda Hedrick.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate teams at UF Health Leesburg and Cornerstone Hospice for their care and support, and to all the dedicated doctors and nurses who have cared for Dave.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Eisenhower Recreation Center in The Villages, Florida.
