Cecile Louise Kraus

Cecile Louise Kraus, passed away peacefully July 9 to join many of her relatives and friends in eternal peace. Born in Hoyloke, Massachusetts the day after Christmas in 1946, marriage took her briefly to Trenton, Michigan and then back to Springfield, Massachusetts where she lived and worked in the Ludlow school system until 2001. Retirement brought her to central Florida where she made more friends and enjoyed new activities.

Despite being diabetic for 57 years, Cecile lived a full and happy life and her passion was supporting and educating other diabetics so that they could better manage their condition. She gave countless hours to this, starting a diabetes education and support group in Springfield, Massachusetts and another in The Villages, Florida. She touched many lives with her caring.

She married Robert James Kraus in 1971 and they loved one another for 54 years. Together they have two sons, Ronald of Hingham, Massachusetts and Andrew of Haverhill, Massachusetts. She also leaves Ron’s wife Cindy and her grandsons Nicholas and Benjamin, nieces and nephews Debbie, Lynn, and Brian, and brother-in-law Leslie Gladu. She was predeceased by her older sister Claire Gladu.

A memorial service will be arranged at some time in the future. Memorial contributions may be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or the American Cancer Society.
