Barbara Pauline Dyer
Barbara Pauline Dyer

Barbara Pauline Dyer passed away peacefully on July 09, 2025 at UF Health Gainesville.. She was 80 years old.
She was born in Beattyville, Kentucky to Letcher and Fanny Mae Charles. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; Nashville, Tennessee and eventually settled in The Villages, Florida. She made friends wherever she went and kept up with many of them over the years.

Barbara was the proud mother of 3 children: Yvonne Sweeney, Cully Harlow (wife, Tammy), and George Allen Dyer, Jr. (wife, Melissa). She had 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. She was known for her sharp wit, strong will (some might say hard- headedness) and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. Her bold personality and charming stubbornness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

We will always remember her signature red hair, her big, beautiful smile, her love of singing and anything leopard print. She was proud of the fact that she sang back up on one of Dolly Parton’s albums and would often sing in the choir at her church. While her children were little, they would always put on some music and have impromptu dance- offs at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Dyer, her beloved dog Daisy (who was her favorite child) and her parents..

She leaves behind her children, great grandchildren, and special friend Jerry Johnson.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. In memory of Barbara, the Dyer family asks that you put on something animal print, some lipstick, some Rolling Stones, then love life, love others, and love without judgement. And remember that you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.

To honor Barbara, the family asks that you donate to a charity of your choice or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
God gave us her blessed soul, now he has taken her home to be by his side after many years of service to Him in the church.
