To the Editor:
This is just a rant. Nothing is meant personally at any person or any area of The Villages. Just a rant hoping you get a small chuckle out of it.
Why do roundabouts in The Villages have two lanes? Wouldn’t you like to meet the genius who decided that this was a good idea for old people? If The Villages wanted to, they could set up lawn chairs and charge admission just to watch the action. Surprised they haven’t thought of it already and I hope I didn’t open that can of worms.
To sit in the roomier exit row of an airline like Spirit, Frontier, or Allegiant, you have to verbally agree to assist the crew in case of an emergency. Think about this. You just paid $45 extra for a seat to be part of the crew. Really? What’s wrong with this picture? Shouldn’t we be getting free travel benefits just like an airline employee or be put on the payroll?
Why do old people in The Villages have to zip by me in a 30 mph speed zone at 35 or 40 mph or higher? Where do retirees need to be in such a hurry?
Since moving to The Villages, I’ve noticed a lot more rainbows. So one day I followed one to find the pot of gold at the end. I’m sure they exist. Trouble is, all of the rainbows seem to end in the Morse family compound and I couldn’t get past the gate.
Shopping for a new car recently, I noticed that most of the vehicles left over on dealers’ lots have solid black interiors. You see where I’m going with this? Someone needs to tell Chevy, Ford, and all the rest of them we’re in Florida where the sun is sub-tropical.
Most of the ads on TV today are for prescription drugs for this ailment or that. But they all end with pretty much the exact same announcement which confuses me. For this demonstration, we’ll call my mythical drug Big Red. At the end of the ad you will always hear the following: “Don’t take Big Red if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients” Seriously? So if you take Big Red and keel over or break out in blisters, you’ll know you’re allergic to it. Pretty simple huh?
More to come.
