To the Editor:

Attempting to find a happy medium. We have a lake home in a pretty average valued area. The reason I mentioned value, I think as the price in an area increases, so does attitudes of the property owners.

That being said our area has changed the bylaws saying you can’t rent your property for one or two nights only. At first I thought “big brother” was again attempting to control our lives.

What I’ve noticed is the trash cans aren’t overflowing on Sunday, the noise and traffic in the area is less and it feels more like a neighborhood.

If you’re wondering, we rent our courtyard villa.

I’ve never rented our property for less than a one month stay and have several neighbors who know how to contact me if there’s issues.

I’m willing to bet that the number of times you rent for one or two nights that the renters’ last thought is, “I hope we’re not bothering the neighbors.”
