A woman suspected of attacking her cousin was found hiding in a restroom at a CVS Pharmacy in Wildwood.
An officer responded to a domestic disturbance at 607 Pleasantdale Drive around 6:35 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Upon arrival, he met with the cousin of 21-year-old De’Quavia Bernajah Grady of Wildwood.

The cousin advised that she and Grady were in a shared bedroom inside the residence when a verbal altercation occurred. Grady hit her in the face, leaving a small deep scratch on her left cheek and swelling on her left eye, the report said.
A witness separated them, and Grady left the residence only to return with a knife. She tried to attack the cousin by moving in her direction. The cousin thought she was going to kill her until the witness took the knife and pushed Grady outside. Grady then picked up stone blocks in the front yard and threw them at the front door, the report said.
The officer examined the scene and saw the damage to the door was consistent with being struck with a hammer fist strike. There were broken stone blocks in front of the door to the residence along with a deep gash in the center of the door like a heavy object hit it, the report said.
Grady reportedly fled the scene in a white 2018 Honda Civic with a family member driving the vehicle. Another officer saw a vehicle matching that description at the intersection of State Road 44 and U.S. 301 pulling into the CVS Pharmacy parking lot, located at 901 South Main St. The officer verified the license plate as Grady quickly went into the pharmacy, the report said.
The officer subsequently approached the vehicle from the passenger side to speak with the driver. When the driver rolled down the window, the officer smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Meanwhile, more officers found Grady in the bathroom and handcuffed her to be put in the back of a patrol vehicle, the report said.
Grady claimed the driver saw the altercation, but when officers interviewed her, she stated she did not. While speaking to her, she opened the driver’s side door, and officers could again smell burnt marijuana. They asked her about it, and she stated she and Grady smoked marijuana earlier. She also said there was none in the vehicle at the time, the report said.
A search of the vehicle ensued, during which officers found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette inside a blue plastic ashtray in the center console cup holder area. Underneath the radio was a plastic bag containing 3.6 grams of marijuana. Another plastic bag with 1.7 grams of marijuana was found along with a silver AWS digital scale inside Grady’s red purse, which was on the passenger seat and had her ID, the report said.
At that point, the driver was read her rights, and she admitted the 3.6 grams of marijuana were hers. She and Grady had shared the marijuana cigarette, but that was hers, as well. However, the 1.7 grams of marijuana and the digital scale belonged to Grady, the report said.
Grady advised that she did not smoke marijuana because she was pregnant. She also denied the marijuana and scale belonging to her, the report said.
When asked about the incident with her cousin, Grady stated a verbal argument happened at the residence. While in the hallway outside the bedroom, the cousin “snatched” her wig from her head, causing her to fall to the floor. She then left the residence, the report said.
The report noted Grady did not have any marks on her, though her wig was ripped on the right side.
Grady was ultimately arrested on charges of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, battery, possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams) and drug equipment (possess or use). She was also wanted out of Sumter County on a felony warrant for four counts of failure to appear. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center to be held without bond and where Georgia put a hold on her.
