We would like to congratulate state Rep. John Temple on his selection as the next president of Lake-Sumter State College.

In making their unanimous selection, the LSSC Board of Trustees highlighted Temple’s strong knowledge and connection to this area, as well as his leadership experience.

Temple is well known to many of us in The Villages. His many years as an educator in Sumter County, including serving as a beloved principal at Wildwood Elementary, are a testament to his commitment to the people of our area.

Temple most recently served as vice president of workforce programs at LSSC and simultaneously serving as state representative for Florida’s District 52, which includes The Villages. He holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor’s in Secondary Mathematics from Southeastern University.

LSSC plays an important role in the health and vitality of our area, primarily in training the workforce of the future. There would seem to be few people as uniquely qualified as Temple to take on this extremely important role.
