Gayle Anne Thompson, 82, passed peacefully on August 26, 2025, nearby her home in The Villages, Florida.
Gayle was a wonderful wife of 63 years to Dennis, and together they built an incredible legacy through their loving family.
Gayle is survived by Dennis, their daughter Michelle and son-in-law Chris, their son Michael and daughter-in-law Renée, and their five grandchildren: Simon (22), Annabel (20), Nolan (19), Carter (17), and Heather (15).
Gayle was born in Detroit to Barbara (Kruse) and Donald Marsden and lived in southeast Michigan for most of her life. She and Dennis raised their children in Troy. Gayle was an amazing friend to so many and cherished those close friendships. She loved to play cards – poker, pinochle, canasta, euchre, etc. While working as an accountant until age 72, Gayle mixed in many outings to Las Vegas, Traverse City, Branson, Scottsdale, and more.
Thompson family cruises and vacations to Disney, Hawaii, Scotland, Torch Lake, Michigan and Lake Chelan, Washington, made memories that will last for generations. Gayle was always ready with a hug, never forgot a birthday or to ask about your maladies, and usually brought some sweet treats to the party. She dressed like a lady just to walk around the block, told you how it was (whether you liked it or not) and didn’t ask permission to live life on her terms.
She loved fiercely and believed that sharing is caring. She believed that ice cream could fix most medical problems (except heart failure) and was the best wife, mom and grandma ever. Going forward, she’ll be keeping an eye on us all from Up There.
