
William David Houseman, 88, died on Sunday, July 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Casabella Hospice House in the Villages, FL.
He was born into this life on March 1, 1937 in Durhamville, New York and was the son to the late Darwin and Dorothy (Reese) Houseman. He was pre-deceased by his 7 brothers and sisters Shirley (Farley), Helen (Gunther), Flora (Rafte), Bud (Houseman), John (Houseman), Charlie (Houseman) and Jim (Houseman).
He served 21 years and retired from the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sargeant. While stationed in Massachusetts he was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served a tour of duty in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, William served 22 years in Data Processing with the Civil Service in Montgomery, AL. William moved to the Villages in 2002 from Montgomery, AL.
While living in The Villages he was a member of “The Romeos” men’s golf group. He also served as a marshal and then hole captain for the Bay Hill Classic golf tournament. He and his wife Gayle were members of the choir at New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages.
William enjoyed golf, birding, gardening, travel abroad, singing in the choir, watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with his loving wife of 67 years Gayle.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Roberta (Gayle) Houseman, The Villages, FL; his son, Timothy W. Houseman and wife Dolores, Daphne, AL; his daughter, Karen J. Scheil, Summerfield, FL and his four grandchildren: William (Ashley) Scheil, Summerfield, FL; Matthew(Sheena) Scheil, Montgomery, AL; Christopher(Ann) Houseman, Boston, MA; Brittany Houseman, Seattle, WA; and one great grandchild Ella Scheil, Montgomery, AL.
