UnitedHealthcare wants to ask Morse family members where the money went at The Villages Health.

A bankruptcy judge has approved the sale of the assets from The Villages Health to Humana’s CenterWell for $68 million, which would appear to be a fire sale price considering The Villages Health had gross revenues of well over $400 million last year. Humana is making the acquisition after The Villages Health declared bankruptcy after self-reporting an estimated $360 million in erroneous Medicare coding,” which has yet to be fully explained.

UnitedHealthcare has accused the Morse family of raking in millions of dollars from The Villages Health prior to the sudden bankruptcy of the “Marcus Welby” physician service.

UnitedHealthcare, which began a partnership in 2013 with The Villages Health to sell Medicare Advantage plans under the coveted logo of The Villages, wants to hear in court from the Morse family – specifically siblings Mark Morse, Tracy Morse Dadeo and Jennifer Morse Parr. UnitedHealthcare is also seeking a trove of documents detailing the finances at The Villages Health from the past six years. Among the documents sought by UnitedHealthcare are all those connected to the bankruptcy sale process and the filing of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

UnitedHealthcare wants to see the documents and interview the three members of the Morse family by Oct. 3.

The sale of The Villages Health to Humana is expected to close in October.

Humana’s CenterWell operates as “a payor-agnostic provider,” so The Villages Health patients will reportedly be able to continue using their current insurance plans after the transition, including UnitedHealthcare.
