A Wildwood man wanted for traffic offenses was arrested after being stopped for driving with a revoked license and no insurance.
An officer saw a silver Chevrolet Tahoe with a missing back window in front of him on State Road 44 around 10:15 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A check of the tag revealed the registered owner, 78-year-old Charles Leigh Self, had no license, and the vehicle had no insurance.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer asked Self about his license. He stated he had a Nevada ID card, which was used to learn he had revoked license as of Dec. 19, 2022, and a failure to appear warrant for traffic offenses out of New Mexico. His driving history was extensive with multiple suspensions, including for DUI, the report said.
Self was subsequently arrested on charges of driving while license revoked, operate motor vehicle without valid license and fail to have motor vehicle liability insurance. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $650.
