A Coleman man was arrested after being stopped at 7-Eleven with a suspended license and an expired registration.

An officer observed 32-year-old Lestettis Requal Caruthers driving a black Kia Soul northbound on U.S. 301 around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A check of the tag revealed the registration expired on Sept. 21.

Seeing this, the officer stopped the vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot, located at 4076 E CR 462. He then asked Requal Caruthers for his driver’s license, but he stated he did not have license due to never being issued one, the report said.

A check of his criminal history confirmed he had only been issued an ID card. He also had a prior conviction for driving while license suspended on April 29, 2022, and three failures to appear, the report said.

Requal Caruthers was subsequently arrested on charge of driving while license suspended (second or subsequent offense). He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $500.
