Duke Energy Florida has announced the completion of its training facility in Wildwood, which will help the company prepare transmission line, substation and relay technicians who are responsible for making infrastructure improvements and upgrades necessary to strengthen the power grid and meet the growing demand for energy in Florida.

The state-of-the-art Wildwood Training Center, which broke ground in August 2024, includes indoor classrooms and equipment training spaces, and eventually, it will also have an outdoor area with a training substation.

Along with the company’s nearly 580 distribution line technicians, Duke Energy Florida currently has approximately 65 transmission line technicians, who repair higher-voltage lines typically used to feed substations on towers and large poles; 113 transmission substation technicians, who manage energy distribution and oversee substations; and 58 transmission relay technicians, who test electrical equipment to ensure reliable power distribution.
