A resident of Recreation Plantation was arrested for theft after allegedly stealing $1,643 in merchandise from Target at Rolling Acres Plaza in The Villages.
Sharon Marie Archer, 79, who lives in the RV park on County Road 466 in Lady Lake, went into Target to skip scan merchandise in the self-checkout lane over the course of nine visits, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
These incidents were caught on video cameras in the store. She went into the store four times in July and stole $881.34 in merchandise. She did the same in August for $570.90 in items. She was finally caught on Friday afternoon after leaving the store with $191.25 in unpaid items, the report said.
Archer was arrested on seven counts of retail theft (over $100 less than $750) and two counts of retail theft (less than $100). The New Jersey native was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $8,000 bond.
