To the Editor:

We have been patients of The Villages Health system for seven years. We have the UnitedHealthcare Advantage plan. Now that Humana has bought The Villages Health system and renamed it CenterWell, they say that they have not yet reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare for them to be a participating insurer. They won’t know until after the first of the year. December 7 ends the period in which we can change our insurance if needed. Seems very clear that Humana is trying to force 55,000 people to switch to their insurance from UnitedHealthcare. From what I’ve been able to see, it would be at a higher cost. It looks as though this was all planned right from the beginning as soon as Humana became an accepted insurer at The Villages Health. Governor DeSantis, we need help. This manipulation of 55,000 people in The Villages area needs to be stopped.
