The SWAT team has descended on a home in The Villages where a woman refused to surrender and come out.
The standoff began late Thursday morning in the 2100 block of Broxton Place in the Village of Ashland.
A woman who had been renting a room in the home had been asked to leave, but refused, according to witnesses at the scene. The homeowner who had demanded that she leave, reportedly had a gun in her waistband. The woman who was renting the room called law enforcement after seeing the gun.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT team arrived after the renter wouldn’t obey commands to exit the home.
SECO has been to the site and cut off power to the home.
