Richard Michael Unsworth, 78, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on November 27, 2025. A man of grit, loyalty, and quiet strength, Richard lived a life shaped by service, hard work, and devotion to family.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, to Francis T. and Lena J. (Campagna) Unsworth, he carried lifelong values of responsibility, resilience, and loyalty. He was the beloved husband of Mauri Anne Bartley, proud father of Scott Michael Unsworth and his wife Tara, cherished grandfather of Bryn Judith of Harrisville, RI, and loving stepfather to Smythe-Anne Bartley of North Kingstown, RI.

He is survived by his brothers Joseph and Thomas Unsworth, sister Frances Lombardo, former wife Diane Unsworth, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Cheryl Unsworth.

Richard served honorably as a United States Marine in the Vietnam War. After returning home, he earned a Business Management degree from Johnson and Wales University and built a lifelong career in IT. Known for his strong work ethic, he also drove for the Providence Journal for more than 20 years.

A natural storyteller, Richard loved working with his hands. His restored 1931 Model A was a lifelong passion and a source of pride, friendship, and connection through his car club.

Richard will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery of Bushnell. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 2, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Water Oak Country Club Estates Satellite Clubhouse in Lady Lake, Florida. A second celebration will be held in Rhode Island in early 2026.

Richard will be remembered for his strength, his stories, and the steady way he showed up for those he loved.
