A suspect will be arraigned next month in the theft of five cases of beer from the Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.
Carlos Tillman, 43, of Ocala, will be arraigned on a felony charge of theft on Jan. 14 in Sumter County Court. He was arrested this past month on a warrant charging him in the case.

Tillman went to the store on Oct. 11, 2024, took a cart and loaded it with $261 worth of merchandise, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The merchandise included five cases of Michelob Lite beer, two chicken sandwiches, a tater keg, two Monster energy drinks, laundry detergent and bleach. He left the store without paying for any of the merchandise.
He returned to the store in November 2024 and is also believed to have stolen merchandise.
He had arrived at the store in a black sedan and Walmart personnel discovered the same car had been used in a heist on Sept. 14, 2024 in Marion County. Walmart personnel worked with law enforcement comparing video surveillance images of Tillman with his driver’s license photo. They concluded it was the same person. He had previously been convicted of theft in 2018 in Miami-Dade County.
