On Friday, several deputies responded to Dollar General, located at 15090 S Hwy, 441, Summerfield, regarding a robbery. They talked to an employee who stated a man, later identified as Collins, came into the store at 9:37 p.m. while wielding a black Taurus handgun with a silver ejection port. He threatened a clerk at the store and demanded that she give him money from the cash register and safe while holding her at gunpoint.

Collins also robbed two customers at the store and threatened to shoot and kill them. After stealing $2,445.99, he fled with the money. However, a portion of the stolen currency contained a tracking device, which led law enforcement to finding Collins and Davis in their home at 16261 SE 89th Court in Summerfield.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at the home, during which time a variety of clothing, three black ski masks, three sets of black gloves and the firearm used during the robbery were found. Sergeant Batts also recovered most of the stolen money. During an interview with Collins, he advised that Davis drove him to the Dollar General and parked on the side of the roadway in a maroon Mercury while he robbed the store.

He also admitted to committing a prior robbery at another Dollar General, located at 32501 Sumter Line Road, Wildwood, on  Dec. 2. He had gone into the store at 8:55 a.m. that morning armed with a firearm, threatened the store clerk and demanded money from both the cash register and the store safe. During the initial investigation, he was connected to another robbery in Marion County.

Collins and Davis were placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where they remain without bond.
