
Peggy Nester Burton, age 82, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away peacefully after battling a long term disease on January 4, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on April 26, 1943, in Bramwell, West Virginia, to Mike and Grace (James) Nester. She was raised in Bluefield, West Virginia, and after graduating from High School, moved to Washington, DC, and met the love of her life John, while they worked for the FBI. They married and returned to Florida residing over 64 years, eventually retiring in Lady Lake.
She was an intelligent strong woman, a great wife and mother, a great cook who loved her children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is survived by her spouse John; sons James (Catherine) and John (Jereen Hall); grandchildren James (Jessie) Burton Jr., Katelin (Robin Williams) Burton, Mason (Caitlyn) Burton and Cole (Katie) Burton; great grandchildren Reagan, Chloe, Riley, Remi, Anna, Levi, Kennedy and 2 more on the way; sisters Hattie, Carol and brother Darrel.
Visitation will take place on Thursday January 8, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place following at Lady Lake Cemetery.
