An out-of-state daughter has been struggling to get her mother’s house into compliance in The Villages.
The patio villa at 261 Montoya Drive was the subject of a deed compliance hearing Friday before the Community Development District 1 Board of Supervisors at Savannah Center.
Patricia Spinner bought the home in 2016 for $161,000. She is no longer living in the home and now is under the care of her daughter, who lives out of state.

A complaint was received Oct. 8 by Community Standards regarding overgrown grass, weeds and vines growing into the eaves. A Community Standards representative at the hearing testified that Spinner’s daughter has been in touch with Community Standards and has been actively trying to address the compliance issues. She has indicated that it has been a struggle and she will likely need more time.
The daughter asked for 45 days to bring the property into compliance. Community Standards had recommended giving the homeowner seven days to bring the property into compliance.
The supervisors said they felt 45 days was too much time, but agreed to give the homeowner 14 days to bring the property back into compliance.
