An Ocala woman was arrested for theft at Target and tased twice when she would not comply with officers.
Officers responded to Target at Rolling Acres Plaza for a past theft around 6:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. While speaking to loss prevention, they saw 50-year-old April Colleen Schofield trying to leave the store with concealed merchandise.

Loss prevention was able to stop her and bring her to their office. But as they calculated the amount of recovered items, she became argumentative. The officers had told her to put her hands behind her back because she was being detained, and she stated she was not under arrest yet, the report said.
The officers still tried to handcuff Schofield, to which she pulled away and stated, “No, don’t touch me.” She continued resisting after receiving multiple commands. Yet she flailed her arms and elbows in a backward swinging motion, not even stopping when told she would be tased if she did not cooperate, the report said.
Given this behavior, she was escorted to the ground to be safely taken into custody. She kept on resisting to the point of being tased in the upper part of her back, which still was not enough to stop her front trying to flail her arm outwards. She was then tased again and finally put in handcuffs. During this struggle, she managed to break the $50 magnetic plate for one of the officer’s body cameras, the report said.
Schofield was ultimately charged with petit theft, resisting without violence and criminal mischief (less than $200). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $29,265 bond.
