An Okahumpka woman was arrested for battery after allegedly pushing her boyfriend during an argument about her sons.
A deputy responded to a battery at the home of 51-year-old Vania Miladi Toledo on Lemon Avenue in Okahumpka at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputy met with Toledo’s boyfriend of 15 years. He advised that he had been at her home trying to spend time with her children, aged 14, 19 and 21 years old. The conflict began when her children disrespected him and stated he was not their father, the report said.
Toledo proceeded to push him and scratched him when he tried to call for help, leaving him with scratches and red marks. She then grabbed his phone from his hand to throw it on the floor and break it. He was still able to call for help from another phone, the report said.
But when Toledo was asked what happened, she stated she had asked her boyfriend to leave because she had homework to finish for college. He instead yelled at her children, saying they were men. He was drunk and refused to leave when asked, the report said.
The incident became physical when she pushed him out the door and took his phone when he tried to call 911, the report said. The phone broke during the struggle, but it was not intentional. He then went toward her children to fight them, so she pushed him out to protect them. She added that he threatened to punch her 19-year-old son in the face, saying, “You need to learn your lesson.”
As for Toledo’s son, he stated he told his mother to let her boyfriend in because he thought it was his younger brother at the door. Once inside, he was drunk and got upset over what the son and his brothers made for dinner. He hit his own chest and called the son a derogatory name, the report said.
The son believed he was implying he wanted to fight without making a direct threat. His mother and her boyfriend started arguing, during which she told the boyfriend to leave. He held onto the door to stay inside while she pushed him out, the report said.
Due to the boyfriend’s injuries, Toledo’s admission to pushing him and the son’s statements, Toledo was arrested for simple battery (dating violence). The California native was transported to Lake County Jail and released on her own recognizance. She is due in court on Feb. 4.
