An Oxford man was arrested after allegedly ramming his truck into a woman’s van several times with her still in it.
Dispatchers received a call about 52-year-old Ricky Allen Fort driving his vehicle into a woman’s vehicle while she was in it after an argument at an Oxford home around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the residence to find a red Ford F-150 and grey Chrysler Town & Country, both with heavy front-end damage. The latter’s bumper was hanging off, its radiator was cracked and leaking, the hood was bent inwards, and the vehicle was unable to start due to the damage. But the Ford had only scratches to the bumper, the report said.
The woman said Fort started a verbal argument with her, during which she left and got into her mini-van. Fort followed her outside to get into his truck and pull in front of her. He then rammed her vehicle with his while she was still inside, the report said.
She was facing her headlights toward the porch of the home next door when Fort approached her head on. He proceeded to ram her again, shoving her vehicle toward the east fence. He backed over the bushes in the yard, went around the back of the house and rammed her vehicle toward the north fence. He subsequently came back around the front of the vehicle and rammed her once more back toward the east fence, the report said.
The woman kept her foot on the brake and her vehicle off during this incident. She was ultimately able to leave her vehicle and run uninjured to the residence next door, the report said.
A witness later stated she heard a commotion outside. When she went to look, she saw Fort’s truck crash into the victim’s van. She then saw the victim run into her residence as she called emergency services, the report said.
Deputies at the scene saw numerous tire tracks and marks in the yard. There was also damage consistent with the given statements, the report said.
Additionally, a check of Fort’s criminal history revealed a felony battery conviction on March 22, 1999 out of Leesburg. He was also part of an open domestic battery case from Oct. 2025 in Sumter County, the report said.
Fort was arrested on charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center to be held without bond.
