A Villager will have to answer in court after allegedly skip scanning at a local Walmart.

Amy Ross, 59, who lives in the Eagle Ridge Villas in The Village of Liberty Park, went to the Walmart in Leesburg on Feb. 18 and pushed her cart to the self-checkout aisle, according to the Leesburg Police Department. While she was scanning her merchandise, a Walmart loss prevention agent was monitoring her on surveillance and saw that Ross was using a technique known as skip scanning. She did not scan $193 worth of merchandise, including sandals and a blanket set.

When she was detained and interviewed by police, she claimed that what had occurred was “not on purpose.”

The Santa Barbara, Calif. native was issued a misdemeanor citation for theft and ordered to appear in Lake County Court on March 11. She is also banned from that Walmart location.
