A resident of the Village of Sunset Pointe was arrested after an officer found cocaine and a firearm in her possession.
An officer saw 28-year-old Katie Marie Marshall fail to come to a complete stop behind the stop bar when leaving 7-Eleven, located at 16950 U.S. Hwy. 441, around 1:40 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

The officer got behind her vehicle, a red Ford truck, and watched as it accelerated up to 60 miles per hour in a 50-mph zone. After stopping the vehicle near Morningside Drive, he approached to speak with Marshall. She stated there were no drugs or weapons in the vehicle but denied consent for a search, so a K-9 unit responded to the scene to check, the report said.
With a positive alert, Marshall was removed from the vehicle for it to be searched. She then stated she had a firearm on her person which turned out to be a Beretta 9mm handgun, the report said.
The officer proceeded to look through her vehicle and found a red plastic baggie of cocaine in her wallet. He also located another baggie of cocaine on Marshall’s person, bringing the total to 0.6 grams of cocaine, the report said.
Marshall was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and a firearm during the commission of a felony. The Maryland native was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,500 bond.
