Three people were taken to an area hospital after a rollover crash in The Villages.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash at 7:41 p.m. Monday on State Road 44 at John Michael Court at the entrance to Lake Deaton Plaza.

A 75-year-old man from Continental Country Club in Wildwood was driving a white 2019 Lincoln Nautilus utility vehicle traveling east on State Road 44 and making a left turn into the shopping plaza when he turned into the path of a red 2014 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 19-year-old man from Fruitland Park, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The left front bumper of the Lincoln Nautilus collied with the left rear side of the Hyundai Sonata, which had been westbound on State Road 44. The front of the Hyundai Sonata collided with the rear end of a red 2023 Honda CRV utility vehicle driven by a 71-year-old Wildwood man. He had been westbound on State Road 44. The 71-year-old man’s vehicle was knocked into the center median where it overturned. He was transported by ambulance to UF Health Leesburg Hospital.

The Hyundai Sonata ran off the right shoulder and struck a sign. The teen driver and a 19-year-old male passenger from Kissimmee were also transported by ambulance to the hospital in Leesburg.

The Continental Country Club man who caused the accident, and his 73-year-old wife who was traveling with him as a passenger, escaped injury. However, he was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield.
