A Villager who lost his license after a previous drunk driving arrest was spotted back behind the wheel near Lake Sumter Landing.

A deputy observed a gray Toyota Corolla traveling through a roundabout at Morse Boulevard and Stillwater Trail around 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed the registered owner, 50-year-old Jimmy Drury of the Historic Side of The Villages, had a suspended license due to a driving under the influence arrest in February near Orange Blossoms Hills Country Club. That case is still pending in Lake County Court.

Because of this, the deputy stopped Drury on Morse Boulevard near Lake Sumter Landing. A subsequent inventory of his vehicle revealed an open BeatBox alcoholic container on the rear passenger floorboard. It was about half full at 11.1% alcohol by volume, the report said.

Drury was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended and issued a citation for possession of an open alcohol container in motor vehicle. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center without bond due to a warrant for DUI out of Lake County.

He was also arrested in December 2025 after allegedly attacking a lady friend at Spanish Springs.
