A woman has been arrested in the wake of the discovery of drugs at Savannah Center in The Villages.

Andrea Michelle Busbee, 43, was taken into custody Thursday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.

She had been spotted on March 6 with 56-year-old George Edward Berry of the Escandido Villas in a black Buick Regal in the southwest parking lot at Savannah Center, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Berry and Busbee began walking a dog through the parking lot of the entertainment venue.

Berry was alone when he returned to the Buick. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle, signaling the likely presence of drugs. Drug paraphernalia with the residue of fentanyl and methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. The keys to the vehicle were in the cupholder. A purse which contained .80 grams of methamphetamine and Busbee’s driver’s license was also found in the car. She was gone, having fled the scene.

Berry and Busbee live at 1404 Azteca Loop, a home in the Escandido Villas notorious for illicit activity. They were both arrested last year in a drug-related incident which landed Busbee in the hospital as the result of an overdose.

Following her arrest on Thursday, Busbee is facing a new drug charge and was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was being held without bond due to outstanding Lake County charges.

Berry is currently free on $2,000 bond following his arrest earlier this week in connection with the Savannah Center incident.
