To the Editor:
I support the gates in The Villages. I believe they keep everybody safe, especially golf carts, walkers and bicyclists. It forces cars to stop and slow down when going through the gate entrances.
When a gate is down some cars don’t slow down and visibility isn’t always good. I am not sure why everybody is in a hurry, considering this is supposed to be a retirement community. I know they cost money and we are not a gated community, but you have to agree they do provide a good service and in keeping our community safe. I know I would not feel safe riding in a golf cart, a bike or walking if the gates were gone.
